Our Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum®
Using clearly defined goals for specific age groups, teachers plan and execute age appropriate activities for children. Additionally, teachers accurately assess the skills and progress of each child in the program through the use of observations, assessment tools and activity records. Teachers alter plans as needed in response to the needs, strengths or interests of the children.
The most important goals of our curriculum are for children to get along with others and become enthusiastic learners. We want children to become independent, self-confident, curious learners who can work well with others. We are teaching children how to learn, not just in preschool, but all through their lives. How do we do this? By creating purposeful and productive play experiences that help children grow in all areas!
Our program is designed to be inclusive of all children. The daily schedule provides a balance of activities in consideration of the child’s total daily experience with attention to the following elements:
* A balance of child-initiated and teacher initiated activities; the amount of time spent in teacher-initiated, large group activities is limited.
* All age groups play outdoors daily if weather permits.
* Each child's day is balanced with periods of quiet and active play.
* We provide a balance of large and small muscle activities.
* We teach social skills by providing small group and large group activity in addition to individual activities.
Our classroom arrangements provide an optimal learning advantage. Classrooms have designated learning centers which include: blocks, science, sensory, dramatic play, math & manipulatives, language, writing, computers, music and creative art. Children, with the guidance of their teachers, visit these centers to play, explore, experiment and create each day.
